Berbera Maritime and Fisheries Academy was established in 2012 through the academy’s charter. It was officially registered in the Ministry of Education Commission of Higher Education of Somaliland Republic as public higher education. The official name of the academy is the Berbera Maritime and Fisheries Academy. The academy is located adjacent to the Berbera port on the shore of the Red Sea in the Sahel region. Data from the academic vice president’s office shows that the academy has around 417 female and male students enrolled in its undergraduate programs in 2024.
